The Pure Church of Righteousness, Inc. was organized by Bishop Mose & Mary Jane Williams, Elder Dave Henderson, Elder Mose Henderson, Mother Sallie Graham, Sister Burnett and a few others. Bishop Mose Williams was appointed leader just as the Lord chose Moses to lead the children out of Egypt. Upon his demise and out of respect and by way of unanimous vote, it was determined, that his wife, Mother Mary Jane Williams would hold the leadership position until Bishop Carlton L. Brown accepted his appointment as Bishop. Both Bishop Mose & Mary Jane Williams were two highly respected servants of the Most High God. They each had a heart for God's people and wholeheartedly believed in teaching and preaching the unadulterated Gospel. The world will always be a constant change but the Father changes not. As such, the Pure Church of Righteousness was built on a true foundation and has continued to maintain the established tradition for over eight decades. This organization is rich in its history and its name carries weight. We are not just your ordinary church, we are THE PURE CHURCH! We stand alone as an independent church body, with no other affiliations with any other church organization. The Pure Church of Righteousness, Inc. is the governing body with several churches under its corporate umbrella.
Mission Statement
The Pure Church of Righteousness Inc. exists to glorify the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, share faith, love and hope in Jesus Christ and lead all people to God through His plan of biblical salvation.
We believe in the Bible standard of salvation, which is repentance, baptism in water by immersion for the remission of sins, and receiving baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
Objective and Purpose
The objective and purpose of this church is threefold:
(1) For the deepening of our spiritual life, so that all our members may attain and impress every Christian believer to seek the highest Christian experience possible in this life. (Matt. 5:14-16)
(2) To ordain Elders, Pastors, Evangelists, Missionaries, Teachers, Divinely called and set apart according to their gifts and calling, who shall be required to teach and preach the doctrine set forth is the Basis of Union. (1 Cor. 7:20: Titus 1:5: Acts 21:40)
(3) To enforce ordinances enacted by Christ and practiced by the Holy Apostles and fathers of the early church, such as baptism (Matt. 3:16-17); Acts 8:12-39), and administration of the Lord’s Supper as instituted by Himself (1 Cor. 11:23-34), followed by, washing of the saints’ feet (St. John 13:14-17). Solemnizing matrimony (1 Peter, 2:13, 15; 1 Tim. 6:13; Titus 2:4-5) and burying the dead.
Basis of Union
We believe that Jesus Christ shed His blood for the remission of sins that are past (Rom. 3:25) and for the generation of penitent sinners and for the salvation from sin and from sinning. (1 John 3:5-10; Eph. 2:1-10).
We believe, teach and firmly maintain the scriptural doctrine of Justification by faith alone through the blood. (Rom. 5:6-9; Eph. 1:7; Rom. 3:24-25; Col. 1:14).
We believe also that Jesus Christ shed His blood for the complete cleansing of the justified believer from all indwelling sin and from its population subsequent to regeneration. (Rom. 6:6; Heb. 13:12; 1 John 1:7-9; 1 Thess. 5:23; John 17:17; Acts 26:18).
We believe also that entire sanctification is an instantaneous, definite second work of grace obtainable by faith on the part of the fully justified believer.
We believe also that the Pentecostal baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire is obtainable by a definite act of appropriating faith on the part of the wholly sanctified believer, and that the initial evidence of the reception of this experience is speaking with other tongues as the spirit gives utterance. (Acts 8:14-17; Acts 1:5; Acts 8:7; Acts 10:44-46 and 19:6).
The Duty of Membership
The Members of this church shall be made up of believing and obedient men and women. They must follow after charity, for without charity we are nothing. (1 Cor. 13:1-2). They shouldn’t drink strong drink, smoke cigarettes or use any illegal substances. The Word of God says, "having therefore these promises dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Cor. 7:1).
